The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office is releasing details in what is becoming a regular occurrence in the area.
Early Saturday morning, authorities were called to the 6000 West Block of Small Road to a burglary report. While traveling to the site, another burglary was reported a short distance away in the 900 North block of County Road 640 West.
In the second burglary, the homeowner was holding the alleged perpetrator at gunpoint until deputies could arrive on scene. According to the incident report, 22-year-old Eric Rose was identified as the suspect.
Rose was allegedly observed by the homeowner to enter the residence while he was working in an outbuilding on the property. The owner armed himself with a rifle and confronted Rose.
Similar incidents have occurred in LaPorte County multiple times over the last year.
Rose was booked into the LaPorte County Jail on Residential Entry charges.
