West Central School Board Scraps Block Schedule

West Central School CorporationMiddle and high school students at West Central will return to a traditional, seven-period schedule in the fall. The school board last week voted to scrap the block-four schedule when school starts. Students enroll in four classes each semester, and they meet for longer time periods.

Depending on a student’s schedule, they could be tested on material they have yet to cover when ISTEP and other end-of-course assessments roll around. West Central Superintendent Don Street says returning to the traditional, seven-period day will alleviate the problem, as students will have each of their classes every day for the entire year.
