Splash Pad Ribbon Cutting, Car Show Scheduled in Wythogan Park

Splash pad finishedThe ceremonial ribbon cutting for the splash pad in Wythogan Park will kick off a day of activities in downtown Knox.

Mayor Dennis Estok and members of the city council will celebrate the completion of the new amenity during an 11 a.m. ceremony tomorrow. The public is invited to attend.

Estok hopes they will stick around for the 3 p.m. auto show. The entry fee is $10 and registration begins at 2 p.m. Live music, games and fun are all part of the event. The show will be followed by a downtown cruise night from 6 until 8 p.m. Organizers say cars, trucks, Jeeps, Volkswagens and 4×4’s will take part and add “if it runs, it’s welcome.” Spectators are also invited to bring lawn chairs to line Main Street and watch the cars go by.

After the cruise night ends, stick around the downtown area for a concert at the Downtown Depot by local classic rock band Dirt Cheap.

All proceeds from tomorrow’s events will go to the Knox Fireworks.
