Public Hearing Scheduled to Review N.J.-S.P. Superintendent Contract

NJ-SP School Board 2015-2016North The North Judson-San Pierre School Board is finalizing the superintendent search process. A public hearing is scheduled Monday, May 9 at 6 p.m. at the administration building to review the proposed contract for Lynn Johnson’s permanent replacement. She stepped down at the end of December. Dr. Robert Boyd has been serving in an interim capacity since January, with that appointment set to run out on June 30th.

The proposed three-year contract for the new superintendent carries a first-year salary of $99,700. It will increase to $102,000 for each of the next two years, with one-year extensions every year thereafter unless the board notifies the superintendent otherwise. That’s the same base salary Johnson was making.

Benefits include paid health insurance premiums, valued at $21,108, with an additional $1,224 for dental and vision insurance. The school corporation also provides a $100,000 term life insurance policy for the superintendent at a cost to the board of $131 per year and pays $3,689 for disability insurance.

Under the proposed contract, the school corporation will also contribute 2.5 percent of the superintendent’s salary to an annuity. That comes to $2,493 in the first year.

All reasonable expenses for the superintendent to attend state and national conferences with prior board approval will be paid as well.

The superintendent will be required to work 240 days a year, with an annual entitlement of 20 vacation and three personal days, 10 holidays and 10 annual sick days.

The proposed contract will be on the Tuesday, May 17th school board agenda for a vote. That meeting will take place at 7 p.m.
