The Oregon-Davis School Corporation has a new superintendent. The school board voted unanimously last night to hire Dr. Don Harman. He is a Warsaw native who has served as principal at South Vermillion High School in Clinton for the past three years. Harman’s teaching career started at New Castle, where he taught science for five years and coached football, swimming and track before getting into administration.

[I spent time at Hagerstown, at Yorktown High School, Middle School Principal at Delta in the Muncie area, then I spent three years at Wawasee High School, and then moved down to Terre Haute to be at South Vermillion High School as a principal. That’s where I was able to obtain my doctorate from Indiana State last May.]

Harman was chosen from what O-D School Board President Christopher Lawrence describes as a “strong pool of candidates” after two interviews.

He’s wrapping up the school year at South Vermillion but plans to be back at O-D three or four times in June so he can hit the ground running on July 1st. Jim Dermody will continue to serve in an interim capacity until then to ensure a smooth transition.
