The owner of a house on Mound Street in Knox that has been deemed unsafe has 60 days to tear it down following action yesterday by the city’s Board of Works. They acted on building inspector Bruce Williams’ recommendation to condemn the property at 353 East Mound Street. He originally recommended the structure be torn down in 2014, but the city gave the owner time to make repairs.

However he ran into issues with the deed transfer and told the city he’s at the point of resolving the matter through the courts. He told the board his intent is to fix the house up and move into it but said he’s only able to repair the roof and siding at this time.

An inspection report dated Aug. 8, 2014 notes no entry doors, missing and rotted siding and no electrical or gas service to the building, along with moderate foundation, roof and floor issues. Under the comments section of the inspection form, Williams noted “needs demolished and lot removed of all debris and rank vegetation.”
