Golf Cart Ordinance, Public Hearing on Knox Council Agenda

The Knox City Council will consider a revised golf cart ordinance when they meet this evening. The proposed city policy mirrors the county golf cart ordinance. It requires owners to register their vehicles. They would be subject to inspections, and an annual fee would be charged.

Lights would also be required on the front and back of vehicles for evening operations, and slow-moving vehicle signs would need to be displayed. All operators must be at least 16 with a valid driver’s license. Liability insurance is also required to operate a golf cart within the city limits.

Also on the agenda for tonight’s 7 p.m. meeting is a public hearing for the Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program for homeowners. A grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority will be used to rehabilitate homes within the Knox city limits. Citizens will have a chance tonight to express their views on the housing needs within the city and the proposed rehabilitation project. Comments or questions can also be directed to Knox Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston at 574-772-3032 or project grant consultant Cathy Miller at 765-202-0020.
