Business Rankings Show Hoosier State Outperforms Neighbors

Indiana BicentennialIndiana is once again receiving top marks in the nation for business climate.

The study, conducted by Chief Executive magazine, bumped Indiana one spot to fifth in the nation as a best state for business. That’s an increase of one spot from the previous year’s rankings. The Hoosier state also ranks as the top state for business in the Midwest.

Rankings were compiled by surveying more than 500 CEOs across the country. This is the 12th year the rankings have been assembled by Chief Executive magazine. Indiana Governor Mike Pence credits the state’s performance to its workforce and to its tax and regulatory climate.

The rankings pinpointed the state’s corporate tax rates – which are projected to fall to 4.9-percent by 2021 from its current 6.5-percent tax, and its status as a right-to-work state.

Indiana also outperformed its neighbors in the rankings with Ohio coming in at #10 on the list, Michigan ranked 40th, and Illinois ranked #48.
