Prayer Breakfast Expects to ‘Wake Up America’

The City of Knox will once again be hosting the National Day of Prayer Breakfast.

The annual gathering at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center will bring churches, organizations, and businesses together on May 5th. The breakfast and national celebration is typically used as a day to reflect on the direction of the United States. This will be the 65th year the National Day of Prayer will be celebrated.

According to information released from Mayor Dennis Estok’s office, the National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress. It was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

This year’s theme will be “Wake Up, America.” The guest speaker for the breakfast will be Pastor Phil Willingham with Heartland Christian Center of Valparaiso. Luke Traver with New Hope Baptist Church of Knox will give the Blessing of the Breakfast.

The Mayor’s office says around 230 residents are planning to attend the 7:00 a.m. breakfast.
