The first round of spring leaf pickup for the city of Knox starts today and continues through Friday. Leaves should be placed along the curb in front of your residence in a long row. Do not put them in the alley, and do not bag them. Garbage contractors will not pick up bagged leaves. Trash should also be kept out of leaf piles so they can easily be vacuumed up.
The Knox Street Department will pick up branches and limbs every Thursday. However they will not take brush left over from professional tree jobs, as disposal is the contractor’s responsibility.
Residents can also drop off leaves, grass clippings, branches and limbs at the city’s compost pile at the corner of Mound and Shield Streets behind city hall and the Knox Police Station. All items should be removed from bags first.
