Culver School Board to Consider Another Administrative Cut

Culver Community School CorporationThe Culver School Board will consider another administrative cut during tonight’s meeting. According to the meeting agenda, the non-renewal of an administrator contract will be up for discussion.

The corporation has found itself turning to staff cuts to deal with a shortfall in its General Fund. Last month, the school board decided to notify assistant principal Julie Berndt that her contract would not be renewed.

Also during tonight’s meeting, the board is expected to give its approval to the 2016-2017 School Calendar. It was tabled during the last meeting, after Interim Superintendent Chuck Kitchell told the school board that the PSAT was scheduled to be given during the time Culver and several other corporations were planning to have fall break. The school board decided to wait to approve the calendar until Kitchell could check that the corporation would be allowed to reschedule the test. Kitchell has said the only significant change to the calendar will be an adjustment to the scheduling of parent-teacher conferences.

Additionally, the school board will hear about Teacher Performance Grant money awarded to the corporation, and a second reading will be held regarding updates to the corporation’s bylaws and policies.

Tonight’s meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Culver School Administration Building.
