A Downtown Winamac building is one step closer to demolition. The Long Branch building had been acquired by the town under a quitclaim deed after the county issued a demolition order against the site.
On Monday, Town Manager Brad Zellers told the Town Council that the gas line has now been disconnected and the building will be torn down as soon as Pulaski County has trucks available to remove debris. The County Commissioners agreed last month to provide the trucks, as long as Winamac is responsible for the actual demolition. At the time, Zellers said the town plans to plant grass on the site and use it as a welcome area for the trail.
