The Starke County Historical Society plans to move into this building on South Heaton Street over the summer months.
The Starke County Historical Society will use proceeds from the raffle to renovate this building on South Heaton Street.

The Starke County Historical Society is offering its supporters a shot at owning a piece Hoosier history. They’re raffling off the Indiana 200th Statehood Shotgun and NRA Indiana Hunting Tradition Rifle next month. Proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the New Museum Building Fund to help with renovation expenses for the former medical office building on South Heaton Street in Knox.

The shotgun is described as a beautifully engraved 24 kt gold-plated Ithaca 20 gauge featherweight masterpiece. It comes with a French fitted case and is number 15 of 200 made for the series. It’s valued at $2,695. Raffle tickets are $50 each, and only 200 will be sold.

The rifle is a Mossberg 4×4 .300 Win Mag. It’s described as beautifully engraved and fully functional and also comes with a French fitted case. It’s the sixth of 100 made for the series and valued at $2,195. Those raffle tickets are $25 each, and 400 will be sold.

Both guns are on display at G&G Guns inside Ed’s Auto Parts at the corner of South Heaton Street and Culver Road. Tickets may also be purchased from the Starke County Historical Society by mail. Send your check to The Starke County Historical Society, 401 S. Main St., Knox, IN 46534 and indicate “raffle” on the memo line. A receipt will be sent to you by return mail.

Both drawings will take place on Saturday, Feb. 13 at noon CST at the new museum. Winners need not be present. Historical Society officials advise all firearm transfers will be conducted in strict compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws.
