Street Sign Replacement Scheduled on Heaton Street

New street signs will soon be installed on U.S. 35 through Knox in order to meet a federal requirement.

Street Superintendent Jeff Borg says the sign letters on federal highways have to be at least six inches tall. He told the board of works on Wednesday the new signs and brackets will cost the city slightly less than $3,300. They’ve been ordered and will be installed as weather and schedules allow.

Borg added the existing signs for the side streets can be saved and put up as replacements are needed. The old Heaton Street signs will be scrapped.
