INDOT Suspends Road Construction for Thanksgiving Travel

More Hoosiers are hitting the roads this year for Thanksgiving, and the Indiana Department of Transportation is working to make holiday travel a little bit easier. Most maintenance and construction activities will be suspended starting at noon today and lasting until Monday morning.

However, some restrictions will remain. On eastbound Interstate 94 in Porter County, the left lane will stay closed between Mile 21 and State Road 49. Southbound Interstate 65 in Newton County is down to one lane for about a mile between State Road 2 and State Road 10. U.S. 31 north of Indianapolis is restricted to two narrow lanes for about two miles north of Interstate 465. Interstate 469 south of Fort Wayne is down to one lane in each direction between State Road 1 and Tillman Road.

INDOT is asking motorists to plan for more driving time during the busy travel period. For the latest updates on Indiana road conditions, visit indot.carsprogram.org.
