Conservation officers responding to a report of poaching in progress at a state property issued multiple citations to four Indianapolis men.

K-9 officers from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and Monticello Police assisted with yesterday’s investigation at Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Area in Medaryville, according to a DNR news release.

The conservation officers initially spoke with 35-year-old Bra Ha, who told them he was squirrel hunting. He admitted to being in possession of dear meat and told the officers three other people were still hunting.

After Pulaski County and Monticello officers arrived, 28-year-old Hae Reh, 21-year-old Davic Chun and 30-year-old Meh Reh were located.

DNR officials say they admitted to shooting a whitetail deer with a rifle and processing it in the field. The officers also found additional bags of deer meat and a dead wild turkey hidden in the brush near their vehicle. Property personnel helped them find the carcass and a considerable amount of trash in the field.

Multiple citations were issued for illegal taking of a whitetail deer and wild turkey, and the meat and firearms were seized as evidence.
