The Knox City Council last night unanimously adopted a budget for 2016. As presented it’s $3.25 million, with $1.6 million of that funded by property taxes.

The spending plan must now be approved by the state board of accounts, which is expected to make a first round of cuts by the end of the year. Additional cuts are likely in April when the effect of the property tax cap known as the circuit breaker is known. City officials noted property tax assessments are going down based on recent bills.
