A public hearing is scheduled September 23rd. on the 2016 budget for the Town of Hamlet. Action to adopt the budget is expected to be taken October 21st.
The Town Attorney, Martin Bedrock, discussed with the board action that can be taken to remove abandoned, fire damaged and unsafe structures. Notices have been mailed to the owners of several such properties, who have 10 days to request a hearing on the matter.
A patron appeared to ask that the town order the removal of a sign in a resident’s yard that brandishes a faux “shotgun.” She said passersby by are threatening to shoot at the sign and is concerned about the safety of area children. The request was discussed but no action was taken.
The Zoning Board failed to have a quorum present for its meeting. No actions were taken.
