Michigan City Police Officer Found Dead by Investigators

user29390-1438191577-media1_3e5e85_192_240_PrsMe_A Michigan City Police Officer who was arrested on misconduct charges was found dead by the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday afternoon.

A search was conducted after authorities received calls that 37-year-old Robert Grant was not answering phone calls or returning text messages.

Grant was arrested by Indiana State Police on Tuesday for two counts of Official Misconduct and Possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription. Grant was reported to State Police by a superior after the department learned about his alleged actions.

Following the arrest, the Michigan City Police Chief had requested a hearing seeking a termination of Grant’s tenure with the Police Department.

According to information released by LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department Spokesperson Mike Kellems, Grant was found dead in a car in the area of County Road 300 N. and 400 W. in LaPorte County.

The LaPorte County Coroner conducted an investigation at the scene. Foul play has been ruled out.
