Candidate Application Rejected, North Judson to Hold Town Convention

North Judson will be holding a Town Convention after all.

Jesiah Clemons filed to run for the North Judson Town Council Ward 2 seat this November. He was listed as an Independent candidate for the position. The Starke County Clerk’s office, however, says Clemons failed to meet the deadline to file his paperwork.

Clemons did, however, previously file to run for a seat on the North Judson Town Council as a Republican. The paperwork was time and date stamped prior to the August 3rd filing deadline. The Clerk’s office says they will accept Clemons’ applications to run as a Republican.

Past the August 3rd filing deadline, the Town of North Judson was under the assumption that it would not be holding a Town Convention. The process is used to help determine which candidates will represent the major parties in November’s General Election.

The Republican Party in North Judson must now caucus to determine whether Clemons, or Republican Wendy Hoppe will fill the spot.
