The Pleasant View Rest Home will soon be placed in a historical magazine for sale.

During Monday night’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting, it was learned that the County Home was recently appraised to help make decisions when listing the property for sale.

Commissioner Bud Krohn, Jr. says the appraiser has experience with schools and churches as well as farms.

“We just feel it needs to be gotten [sic] rid of before winter,” says Krohn, Jr.

The site ceased operations due to budget constrains and other hurdles related to making repairs at the site. Removing the Pleasant View Rest Home from the fiscal year budget has been an ongoing process since that time.

An auction was recently held to sell supplies, furniture, and other items inside the home.

Krohn, Jr. says that after walking the property with Commissioner Terry Young and the appraiser, the property was estimated at a value of $70-thousand.

“We measured the outside and everything. [The appraiser] thought the bricks were in good shape and the barn was in really good shape so we may have some lookers,” says Young.

The County Home will likely be listed for sale with an area realty firm. The Pulaski County Commissioners have also previously discussed listing the property in a historical magazine for a marginal cost.

No further action was taken, but agreed the historical magazine listing should move forward.
