PCPL, LightStream and Hot-Spot WiFi Partner to Offer Internet Access at Fairgrounds

Hot-Spot WiFiPurdue Extension and Pulaski County Fair Board officials were able to work more efficiently during this year’s fair, thanks to a partnership between the Pulaski County Public Library, LightStream and Hot-Spot WiFi.

The back of the park sits in a valley, which makes it extremely difficult to receive a phone signal or data download. The library worked closely with LightStream to bring a super-fast Internet connection to the main branch. From there it travelled over cables, through the air and across the Tippecanoe River to a broadcasting device provided by Hot-Spot WiFi. Known as a pod, it created a high-speed wireless network that was accessible across the fairgrounds. Crews from the Town of Winamac trimmed several tree branches to expand the signal strength.

Library officials say the service will only be offered during special events like the fair and power show and are looking forward to making it available again next year.
