Flood Warnings Extended Again For Local Rivers

 
 

The flood warning for the Tippecanoe River near Ora is in effect until further notice. Last night at 10 the river was holding steady at 12.1 feet, according to the National Weather Service. Flood stage is 12 feet. Minor flooding is occurring, and moderate flooding is forecast.

Right now the river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.1 feet around 2 a.m. Monday and start falling. At 13 feet, flooding starts to affect streets and homes in Monterey. This crest compares to June 15, 2013 when the river hit 13.4 feet.

The flood warning for the Kankakee River at U.S. 30 continues until late Sunday night. As of 10 last night it was at 10.5 feet and steady. Flood stage is 10 feet. Minor flooding is occurring, and minor flooding is forecast. The river is expected to fall below flood stage around 1 a.m. tomorrow. At 11 feet flooding of secondary roads near the river begins.

More thunderstorms are in the forecast late tonight into tomorrow and continuing into Monday.
