Tornado Confirmed in Weekend Storms

A tornado has been confirmed to have appeared in Starke County during weekend storms.

Officials from the National Weather service traveled to Starke County Monday afternoon to survey the damage. According to Starke County Emergency Management Agency Director Ted Bombagetti, the category of the tornado has not yet been determined.

Wind speed, and other calculations must first be conducted prior to determining how to classify the system. The most significant damage from the weekend storms occurred in the area of 400 South between 600 and 700 West.

Homes were damaged and a garage was knocked down. That’s in addition to vegetation such as trees and crops receiving damage from the storms.

Although a tornado appeared, no injuries were reported.
