Toad Licking LaPorte Man Arrested for Trespassing

The bizarre behavior of a LaPorte man who was denied entry to a bar there Saturday night landed him a trip to jail.

Police responded to a report of a man who refused to leave JJ’s Sideout Bar and reportedly found security staff standing on the sidewalk with Richard Mullins, 41. He was barefoot, carrying his sandals and dancing on the sidewalk, according to police. Security staff at the bar said Mullins ignored a request for ID and entered the venue. He was escorted outside but still reportedly refused to leave the premises. That’s when witnesses say he started dancing and picked up a toad and licked it.

The officers spoke to Mullins, who continued to dance on the sidewalk, and told him he would be arrested if he returned to the bar’s property. They left but kept the area under surveillance. A few minutes later they reportedly saw Mullins walk back into the bar parking lot carrying another toad. That’s when he was arrested for trespassing.
