Suspect Sneaks Out After Supplying Counterfeit Cash

  
 

La Porte Police responded to JJ’s Sideout Bar & Grill to investigate three counterfeit bills that were presented by a patron who left prior to police arrival. According to security staff, a male patron came into the bar and presented a $50 bill as payment. Employees determined the bill to be counterfeit and alerted the patron. He then presented two more $50 bills in it’s place which were also fake. The suspect allegedly admitted to staff that he knew the bills were fake at which time they told him the police had been contacted. The suspect initially indicated he would cooperate and wait for police, but ended up sneaking out a rear door of the business and leaving the area.

According to a press release, the suspect is described as a black male, who appears to be in his 20’s. He is about 5’9″ tall with a slim build. His top row of teeth are gold and he was wearing a big cheetah t-shirt.

The male suspect was in the bar with a black female who was driving a 2006 silver Chrysler 300 sedan. A plate number was provided to police. The vehicle came back registered to a woman in Michigan City and the case remains under investigation.
