The Starke County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after one person was pronounced dead near North Judson on Sunday morning.
Officers received the call around 1:30 Sunday morning and responded to the area of South Dawn Drive East. Several individuals were attempting to provide aid to the victim – who’s name is not being released at this time.
Medical professionals and a coroner from Marshall County determined the victim was dead at the scene.
Starke County Sheriff’s Deputies and North Judson Police determined an altercation had occurred earlier in the evening. One of the suspects is believed to have returned to the site where the situation is thought to have escalated. As a result, a male walking in the street was allegedly struck by an SUV.
Locations in Starke, Jasper, and Pulaski County were investigated and two were taken into custody. The individuals were released when it was determined they were not directly involved.
No arrests have been made. The Starke County Sheriff’s Department is asking for help locating the SUV.
