An armed robbery near the LaPorte/Porter county line is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Department.
According to a news release, the incident happened this morning around 5:30 a.m. at Gallop’s Marathon. A 59-year-old truck driver told authorities he was sitting in the cab of his semi-truck when the suspect opened the door and pointed a gun at the victim.
The perpetrator demanded cash from the truck driver, who says he gave him the $6 he had in his wallet.
Investigators say the suspect is a thin, white male with facial hair on his chin. Witnesses were interviewed at the scene, and the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department is analyzing surveillance video.
The suspect is thought to have left the scene on foot. No arrests have been made.
