The Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay is scheduled to pass through Starke County on October 7, 2016. Citizens may nominate local persons to carry the torch up to 1/4-mile through the county. Starke County may have 20 or more torchbearers.
Full information and the nomination process, as well as the nomination form, for the Torchbearer Program is available at Starke County Libraries, the Chamber of Commerce and on the on-line nomination page. Completed forms may be dropped off at the Starke County Chamber of Commerce, 400 North Heaton; at Starke County libraries; or emailed to Dave Pearman, chairman of the local committee.
The nomination process will continue until Dec. 31, 2015. A juried nomination process will be employed to select torchbearers. Announcement of the selected torchbearers will be made in June, 2016. State on-line information and forms are available at www.indiana2016.org/torchrelay/nomination-forms.
