Personal Property Returns Due Friday

Personal property returns will be due to the County this week.

According to information provided by the Starke County Assessor’s office, business owners and farmers are expected to have their personal property tax return turned in by Friday, May 15th at 4:00 p.m.

Personal Property Tax forms do not apply to anyone who does not own a business, or does not operate a farm.

Information on the tax, and exactly which items must be claimed on the return can be found on the state of Indiana’s Department of Local Government Finance. According to Starke County Assessor Rhonda Milner, common items include irrigation equipment, tractors, and other equipment used in business production.

The return can be filed in-person to ensure it has been received in a timely manner. It can also be post-marked by May 15th, or sent via e-mail. The assessor’s office encourages residents to call to ensure receipt.
