An autopsy is scheduled today in Lafayette for the victim of a Saturday morning home explosion in northwest Pulaski County. It happened just after 7 a.m. Saturday in the area of 1600 West and 2505 North, according to officials with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.
Firefighters from Medaryville, Francesville and San Pierre got the flames under control within an hour but spent several more battling hot spots. The cause of the blast is still under investigation.
Pulaski County Sheriff Jeff Richwine confirms a body was found in the debris. The Pulaski County Coroner pronounced the victim dead at the scene. A name has not been released. Officials say much of the structure of the home collapsed into the basement following the blast. The blast also damaged two vehicles parked at the residence.
