March County Unemployment Rates Reflect Two Extremes

  
 

The March unemployment rates in Starke, LaPorte and Jasper Counties are well above the state average, while Marshall and Pulaski Counties are slightly under that number. That’s according to figures released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

LaPorte County has the highest rate in the area at 7.9 percent, followed by Starke at 7.6. Jasper County’s rate of 7.2 percent is also well above the state average of 5.9 percent for the month. Marshall and Pulaski Counties both posted 5.1 percent unemployment figures for the month of March.
