Knox Students Vow Support for Child of Crash Victims

Knox-School-Board-2014Students of the National Junior Honor Society have determined that the proceeds of their fund raising activities will be directed to an education fund for a North Judson student who lost both parents in a recent accident. Charles and Patricia Hill were killed last Tuesday when their 2005 Harley-Davidson was struck by a pickup truck on State Road 10 at 700 West, west of North Judson.

Knox High School students will have an opportunity to buy the computers they are currently using when the current four-year contract with the supplier ends. Superintendent A.J. Gappa told the school board last night that the average sale price will be about $120 per computer on a first-come, first-served basis. Others eligible to purchase a used computer, in a pre-determined order, include students in other buildings, staff, parents and and eventually patrons.  Any of the approximately 1,000 computers not sold locally will be purchased by the supplier. The board also approved payment of warranty insurance to cover the computers in the new lease agreement.
Knox High School Principal Elizabeth Ratliff announced that the 2015 prom is scheduled Saturday night at Swan Lake.
Administrators and board members discussed a recent K-9 drill in the high and middle schools as well as a short “lock down” of elementary students last week.
Gappa reported that all principals and assistant principals have valid state-coordinated training certificates as “School Safety Specialists.”
