West Central School Board Discusses Strategic Plan

The West Central School Board discussed the strategic plan the members previously worked through in a work session.

Superintendent Don Street said the board has established some educational goals.

“Promote rigor and relevance in relationship to the classroom, assure student growth through the evaluation of programs and resources, and our third goal is to keep pace with technology in order for our students to compete in a global economy,” said Street.

Finance goals were also set. Street noted that the vision, mission, and belief statement were approved as part of the strategic plan.

“Our vision statement is to encourage every student every day. Engage, empower and educate.”

Work at the high school is also planned which includes works on water lines, electric panels, lighting, windows, doors, restrooms, storage, locker rooms, and sidewalks. Street said the building is aging, and upgrades are being pursued.

Changes at the middle school level are also a part of the plan.

The board members approved the plan with a unanimous vote.
