Star City Woman Airlifted After Crash in Critical Condition

Truck at Scene

The Star City woman ejected from her vehicle in a crash in Pulaski County over weekend is in critical condition.

34-year-old Amanda Abbott was traveling on Pulaski County Road 150 South around 8:02 p.m. That’s east of State Road 119. According to Pulaski County Sheriff Jeff Richwine, Abbott’s vehicle went off the roadway to the south, but came back onto the roadway. The truck then proceeded off the north side of the roadway before flipping multiple times.

Pulaski County, EMS, Winamac Police, and Indiana State Police responded to the scene. Abbott was transported to a local hospital, but was eventually flown to South Bend Memorial Hospital for additional treatment.

The roadway was closed for several hours while ISP investigators recreated the incident.

Details about the nature of Abbott’s injuries are not known. According to officials with South Bend Memorial hospital, however, she remains in critical condition as a result of the crash.

No charges have been filed, but the crash is under investigation after officials with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department say alcohol was located at the scene. Previous reports have indicated speed may have also been an issue.
