Now that snow from the winter season is melting, the Starke County Sheriff’s Department is reminding residents of increased drug visibility.

Sheriff Bill Dulin says pieces of methamphetamine labs along the side of the roadway could become more visible. He says that if members of the public find suspicious items, to refrain from touching them.

Among the items the Sheriff’s Department cited are plastic bottles containing residue, or bottles with hoses coming out the top. Chemical containers were also cited as suspicious items that should not be touched. Those items are commonly associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Dulin advises that if the items are ingested or inhaled, they can have severe consequences for an individuals’ health.
