Man Turns Himself In On Sexual Misconduct Warrant

A Culver man turned himself into Plymouth Police on Monday after he was accused of sexual contact with a minor several months ago.

Plymouth police say they received a phone call from 43-year-old Joey Maxon who stated he would be waiting for officers at the Wal-Mart in Plymouth. Maxon had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Pulaski County. He was taken into custody.

Authorities began investigating Maxon after a June 2014 incident. A family member of Maxon’s 14-year-old female victim allegedly spotted them in an inappropriate situation at the victim’s Monterrey area home.

Pulaski County Authorities conducted interviews over several days with the victim, her family members, and Maxon himself. According to an incident report, the 14-year-old allegedly told police that she and Maxon engaged in sexual intercourse.

A sexual assault kit was utilized by the victim at her mother’s encouragement at IU Health Starke Hospital in Knox shortly after the alleged incident took place. Maxon denied any sexual contact with the victim according to the incident report.

Nonetheless, a warrant was issued in June of last year charging Maxon of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor.

He was booked at the Marshall County Jail on Monday and is awaiting extradition to Pulaski County.
