LaPorte Police to Conduct Patrols

The LaPorte Police Department will participate in an effort to reduce aggressive and dangerous driving.

Officers will be working 80 hours in an Operation Pull Over event that begins today and ends March 28. The purpose of the added hours of patrols is to reduce crashes and injuries by encouraging safe driving behavior by motorists driving on the streets.

Violators will be ticketed.

The most common factors that lead to crashes are disregarding a regulatory sign or signal or failure to yield, following too closely, unsafe backing, unsafe speed and improper turning.

Operation Pull Over is a traffic grant program funded by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and administered by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.
