Two Sentenced in Starke Circuit Court

Two offenders were sentenced in Starke Circuit Court on Monday.

Sammie Marshall, 20, of Knox pleaded guilty in an agreement with the State to a charge of theft as a Class D felony. He admitted to stealing a Kindle Fire and several pieces of jewelry from a person with whom he was living. He then gave the items to another person.

The agreement called for 24 months in the Indiana Department of Corrections with no time suspended which Judge Kim Hall approved.

Joseph Esposito admitted to a probation violation during his hearing on Monday. In exchange of his admission, he will receive no sentence for the charge. He also waives his right to appeal.

Esposito was found guilty in a jury trial this month of resisting law enforcement as a Level 6 felony and a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving. Esposito was sentenced to 24 months in the Indiana Department of Corrections with no part of the sentence suspended. No judgment was entered on the misdemeanor charge.
