Things are getting better at the highway department, according to Pulaski County Commission President Larry Brady.

When the commissioners last met in January, Commissioner Bud Krohn, Jr. made a motion to appoint a person as the second person in charge at the highway department and the change was approved by a vote of 2 to 1. Traditionally, the second person in charge is appointed by the superintendent.

Mark Fox was appointed as superintendent, and Terry Ruff was appointed general foreman which bumped Travis Holiday down a position to foreman.

Brady told WKVI News that procedures are getting better at the highway department, but did not elaborate as discussions were held in executive session.

Highway Superintendent Mark Fox previously told WKVI News that several issues discussed during last month’s public commissioners meeting have been remedied. As for the changes expected by the commissioners at the highway department, they haven’t been announced in a public meeting.

The personnel change will go before the Pulaski County Council members during their meeting on Monday, Feb. 9. Since there was a change in the general foreman position, the policy change needs to be approved by the fiscal body.
