A former Knox High School teacher accused of exchanging inappropriate text messages with a minor has pleaded guilty.

This is the second case for 30-year-old Robert Corbin involving inappropriate contact with a student.

As part of a plea agreement, Corbin pleaded guilty to a Class C Felony Count of Child Seduction. Other charges, including: Sexual Misconduct with a Minor and a Class D Felony count of Child Seduction were subsequently dropped.

According to previous testimony, Corbin also allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with the 15-year-old between January and March of 2012. Corbin was a teacher and aquatics instructor at the High School at the time.

He could face up to 8-years in prison. Corbin’s defense attorney recommended a 7-year sentence, split-up over 28-months in the Indiana Department of Corrections, 28-months on Home Detention, and a suspended sentence of 28-months probation.

Judge Kim Hall requested the state explain the difference in prosecution between Corbin’s case and a similar matter from several years ago, prior to sentencing.

Corbin will be back in court March 12th for a sentencing hearing.
