Starke County K-9 Assists in Drug Arrests

Starke County’s new K-9 assisted with the apprehension of two suspects on drug charges at a Knox residence late last week.

Officers, medics and fire personnel responded to Anthony Esparza’s home on Long Lane Drive after receiving a 911 call about a medical emergency. The patient refused medical treatment. Esparza is on probation and consented to a search of the home. K-9 Terror alerted to an odor of narcotics in a bedroom and the kitchen, according to a sheriff’s department news release.

Esparza was arrested for maintaining a common nuisance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a synthetic drug and possession of paraphernalia. Justin Olds was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a synthetic drug, possession of paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance.
