More Snow With Additional Accumulations Possible Overnight

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Kankakee Valley tonight into tomorrow morning. Snow is expected to overspread the area this evening and continue overnight, with three to five inches possible.

Snow may fall tonight at a rate of half an inch per hour, and visibility may be reduced to half a mile or less. Roads may become snow-covered, slick and hazardous, which will also make travel difficult. If you do have to be out tonight, allow plenty of extra time to reach your destination.

Roads are already extremely slick with snow and black ice, according to Starke County Emergency Management Agency officials. This is especially true on secondary rural roads between open fields. Underneath the snow is a sheet of ice. Snow plow drivers are back out clearing roads and spreading salt this morning. Please give them plenty of room to work.

The WKVI Information Center will be staffed all day and into the evening hours to bring you the very latest.
