Candidates Begin Filing for Municipal Election

The first week of filing for candidacy in this year’s Municipal Election is in the books. Pulaski County Clerk Tasha Foerg did not report any filings in her office for town positions in Winamac, Francesville, Medaryville and Monterey, but plenty were recorded in Starke and Marshall Counties.

Democrat Rick Chambers will seek his third term as Mayor of Knox. Former Mayor Dennis Estok, a Democrat, is also on the ballot for Knox Mayor. The two faced off for the mayor’s seat in 2007 in a primary election. Chambers won the election and has been the mayor since that time.

Incumbent Democrat candidates for the Knox election include Jeffrey Houston for clerk-treasurer, and Donald Kring, Greg Matt, Ronald Parker, and Jeff Berg for seats on the city council. Democrat Pricilla Upp has also filed for a Knox City Council seat.

Kristina Pitts will seek another term as Hamlet Clerk-Treasurer on the Democrat ticket.

In Marshall County, Republican Mark Senter is looking to continue as the Mayor of Plymouth while Rex A. Crump has filed for mayor as a Democrat candidate. Other incumbents have filed for re-election who include Republicans Janet Anglemyer for Bremen Clerk-Treasurer, James Leeper for Bremen Town Board, Jeanine M. Xaver for Plymouth Clerk-Treasurer, Mike Delp for Plymouth City Council District 1, Duane Culp for Plymouth City Council District 2, Don Ecker for Plymouth City Council District 3, and Shawn Grobe for Plymouth City Council District 4.

Republican Christopher Berdahl has filed for one of three at-large seats available on the Plymouth City Council.
