Construction is underway for the new Hamlet/Davis Township Volunteer Fire Station. The building will be located just east of the Starke County Fairgrounds on County Road 500 North in Hamlet. A groundbreaking ceremony was held last month.
In October the Starke County Community Foundation granted $25,000 to the project from the Hardesty Endowment Fund. It is their intent to grant $25,000 annually for the next seven years, making a total of a $200,000 provided for the project in Davis Township.
The mission of the Community Foundation is to improve the quality of lives in area communities by assisting donors in fulfilling their charitable wishes in contributions both large and small.
