Three Races Won by Only a Few Votes

Three races in yesterday’s General Election in Starke County were decided by close votes.

In the County Council District 4 race, Democrat Pamela Stalbaum won by two votes over Republican Don White. White was surprised at the close count.

“It’s not what I expected I can tell you right now,” said White. “I expected to win and…wow. It was very, very, very close. Pam is a good person. It is what it is.”

Republican Mandy Thompson won the Railroad Township Trustee seat by three votes over Democrat Roger Chaffins, Sr.

Democrat Chairman Kenny Wallace said he will wait to see if any recounts will result from the election.

“We got down with a couple of them but we’ll see how that pans out – if there’s any provisional ballots in the next four or five days,” commented Wallace.

The Oregon-Davis Community School Board District 1 race was won by Christopher Lawrence. He won by three votes over by Annette M. Ferch.
