Radioville Bowling Alley Owner Granted Demolition Extension

The old bowling alley in Radioville will soon be demolished.

Pulaski County Building Administrator David Dare explained to the commissioners last night that the structure is unsafe as the roof has caved in and the building can’t be salvaged. According to the demolition order, the building must be demolished by Dec. 30.

Bruder explained that she has some circumstances that won’t allow her to get the building torn down in that timeframe. She noted that the Countryside Bowling Lanes, Inc. is in her name but she needs to work out details with the other owners of the building which hasn’t been occupied in many years.

Bruder, who lives in LaCrosse, asked if she could delay the demolition until April 30 in order to fund an excavator to come onto the property to help her with the demolition. She said that she has talked to a man in charge of that company and he will help her in the spring.

The commissioners told Bruder that if she puts protective fencing around the property and signage that warns of trespassing and/or that it’s an unsafe building they would approve the extension. She agreed with the terms and the commissioners unanimously approved that requirement and that the building is an unsafe building.

Later in the meeting, the commissioners discussed the need for insurance to be on that building until it’s demolished. They notified David Dare of the decision during the meeting and confirmed that he would talk to Karen Bruder about that added requirement.
