Culver officials have extended the search for a town manager until Dec. 1st. Manager Dave Schoeff resigned last month and finished his duties on Oct. 17th. Council President Ginny Bess Munroe says the town has been working with a consultant to help the process.

“Mitch Ripley has been working with us on setting up training for board members. Whether it’s council, an appointed board appointments occur in January. We have been working with him to do orientation for new board members. So in working with Mitch during that time frame our town manager happened to resign and Mitch has a background in human resources. He also has a lot of grand human resources and he’s worked with various towns,” said Munroe.

Munroe says the town has not been able to find a manager to stay longer than two years.

“Ideally you would want that in your town manager. We’ve had some excellent town managers, we’ve had good working relationships with them but we are a small town. Somewhat of a training ground perhaps for some people, but our goal is to find the best person for Culver. Regardless of what kind of search you do that’s always the mission,” said Munroe.

Munroe says the council is taking time to find the best fit for the community.

“We’ve had some applications come in. We extended that simply because when we decided to work with Mitch we wanted to take the time to polish some of our advertisements figure out what we wanted to give him a good idea of what we’re looking for as well. So extending that was really more a matter of a convenience for us,” said Munroe.
