Property Tax Scam Reported in Marshall County

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department has received phone calls from Culver residents about a property tax scam.

Phone calls are being made to Culver residents where the caller tells the victim that a property tax payment has not been made, a lien has been placed on the property and officers are on the way with an arrest warrant. Some calls are made with a human caller and others are automated.

Officers recommend that you hang up on these callers and do not give out any information or agree to pay them. Marshall County officials will not accept payments over the phone and a letter will be sent to notify you of a delinquency.

If you have questions about your taxes, call the Marshall County Treasurer’s office at (574) 935-8520.

Contact your credit card company immediately if you have made a payment and report the transaction to officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
