Plymouth School Bus Driver Charged in Hit and Run

A Plymouth School Bus driver faces charges in connection with a hit-and-run accident. It happened on Friday, Oct. 17 in the 16000 block of Cook Lake Trail and was reported to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at 7:41 a.m. A resident told a Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy her vehicle was parked in her driveway at the time.

Yellow transfer paint was found on the vehicle, according to a sheriff’s department news release. Witnesses told the investigating officer they saw a Plymouth School Bus hit the car and drive away. It’s unclear whether students were on the bus at the time of the crash. The officer learned the bus involved was Plymouth Community School Corporation Bus 15 and was driven by Michael Chaney, 69. The Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office has filed formal charges against Chaney for failure to stop after an accident resulting in damage to an unattended vehicle. The offense is a Class B misdemeanor.
